POSITION TITLE: IT Support Specialist                                       

REPORTS TO: Network Administrator

DEPARTMENT: District Administration

CONTRACT TERM: Twelve Months (12)                                     

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

 

JOB SUMMARY: Information Technology Support Specialist position who are enthusiastic, technically skilled, and looking for the opportunity to support students and staff. Under general supervision, the position provides specialized technical support to site technology assistants and schools, in the operation, maintenance and support of a computer network. Acts as a resource person in computerized instruction; troubleshoots and fixes technology and media problems.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Assists in the implementation of the district technology plan.
  2. Continuously reviews and evaluates the technology plan and computer education program.
  3. Assists in the installation of major software programs to increase effectiveness and reduce costs to the ultimate benefit of the education program.
  4. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of equipment and major software programs.
  5. Assists with inventory of all equipment and major software programs.
  6. Provides staff development and serves as a technology resource to staff.
  7. Troubleshoots and maintain classroom and laptop computers with the latest update software and hardware
  8. Assists students in making proper use of computer equipment and materials.
  9. Assists in preparing and maintaining special technology displays, which reinforce important parts of the technology program.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  1. Ability to problem solve software and network problems.
  2. Technical reading and writing skills related to reading and understanding software manuals and technical documentation.
  3. Ability to organize parts and materials related to the technology at the school
  4. Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
  5. Ability to demonstrate patience and an understanding attitude toward students.
  6. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  7. Skill in maintaining cooperative working relationships with those contacted during work.
  8. Knowledge of general school site rules and policy.
  9. Knowledge of Governing Board rules of conduct and policy.
  10. Skill in communicating orally and in writing.
  11. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others, requiring the ability to interact professionally and courteously with students, faculty, staff and the public.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. AA degree in Computer Science.
  2. Proficiency in using Internet searches
  3. Knowledgeable and experienced with maintenance and operation of effective computer

Systems.

  1. Experienced in effective technology training techniques for staff.
  2. Experience working with the Macintosh and Windows platforms is highly desirable

 

PREFERRED QUAILIFICATIONS:

  1. Hopi/Indian Preference in employment considered.
  2. Valid State Driver Licenses.
  3. Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  4. Must successfully pass employment background checks within the last five years which include state, federal and local tribe.
